Through Literacy Champions Fellowship, we equip 13 to 18-year-olds to lead literacy initiatives in underserved communities (slums, refugee settlements, and public schools).

We enroll children aged 2 to 12 years in various programs:

Two-year literacy fellowship empowers champions through play-based early education, personal development, community service, and innovative literacy solutions.

Read to Learn Foundation is an indigenous Ugandan women-led nonprofit focused on early literacy development with an emphasis on the creation of community-driven and led interventions. We focus on addressing barriers that hinder access to appropriate and relatable reading and learning materials while also addressing the social, economic, and cultural aspects.

The Read to Learn Foundation was founded on 20th September 2021.

To empower communities in all their diversities with the right tools, skills, and resources to enable them to access the right early literacy development programs

  • Inclusion: Embracing diversity and ensuring every child, regardless of background, has equal access to quality education.

 

  • Openness:Embracing honesty through open communication, enabling staff, volunteers, and partners to freely engage.

 

  • Community-Centred Approach: Focusing on the needs of communities and working alongside them to build sustainable educational solutions.

 

  • Partnerships: Collaborating with communities, organisations, and mentors to amplify our impact and create lasting change.

 

Read to Learn Foundation offers programs such as;

Read to Learn Foundation programs are open to individuals of all ages, especially focusing on children, adolescents, and adults who need literacy support and skilling.

You can get involved with the Read to Learn Foundation by volunteering, donating books or resources, sponsoring a program, or spreading awareness about literacy issues.

The Read to Learn Foundation has achieved significant milestones, including:

  • initiating 1,280 Community Book Clinics,
  • sponsoring the education of 66 children,
  • establishing 4,985 School Book Clubs,
  • creating a network of 1,544 Literacy Champions Fellowship recipients,
  • donating 60,890 books, reaching out to 92 schools,
  • partnering with 192 Community Libraries, impacting 9 districts, and benefiting 24 communities.
