Inclusive Learning Program

Inclusive Learning bridges education gaps for children with disabilities in Uganda through accessible materials, teacher training, and strategic partnerships.

The Inclusive Learning Program is dedicated to bridging the educational gap for children with disabilities in Uganda. Recognizing that over 2.5 million Ugandan children live with disabilities, we aim to provide equitable access to quality education through innovative, inclusive strategies.

Key Components:

  • Accessible Educational Materials: We develop culturally relevant storybooks available in print, braille, and sign language formats, ensuring all children can engage with literacy content.
  • SOMA App Integration: Our AI-powered, multilingual SOMA App offers audio and video versions of storybooks, accessible offline, catering to children with visual or auditory impairments and those in low-connectivity areas.
  • Play-Based Learning Tools: Supplementary materials like puzzles and story mats support hands-on learning, accommodating various learning styles and needs.
  • Teacher Training: We equip educators with inclusive, play-based teaching methodologies, enhancing their capacity to support diverse learners effectively.

Collaborations:

We partner with key organizations to amplify our impact:

  • Ministry of Education and Sports: Collaborating on age-appropriate learning methodologies.
  • Uganda National Society for the Blind: Translating materials into braille and training parents to create tactile literacy tools.
  • Uganda Society for Disabled Children: Providing specialized teacher training and integrating digital tools for monitoring learning needs.
  • Uganda National Association of the Deaf: Offering sign language translation and training for educators.

Through these initiatives, the Inclusive Learning Program strives to create an educational environment where every child, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive.
